How this calculator works
Warehouse storage is often priced per pallet position or by how long stock stays in a facility. Knowing your effective cost per utilized pallet position can help compare a third-party warehouse quote with operating your own space.
What the calculation does
Add monthly fixed warehouse costs and divide by your average occupied pallet positions, not the theoretical maximum when occupancy is lower. Add variable monthly cost per position, prorate by the storage days, then add receiving and dispatch handling.
Important limitations
Uses average occupancy and a calendar-month conversion. Real invoices may use weekly minimums, tiered storage, peak-season rates, insurance, or minimum billing periods.
Common questions
Why does lower warehouse occupancy increase the cost per pallet?
Because the same fixed warehouse rent is spread over fewer occupied slots.
Does it include forklift and labor costs?
Include recurring operating overhead in monthly fixed cost and per-movement fees in handling inputs. Avoid counting the same expense twice.
How should I enter the number of pallet positions?
Use safe, available positions under your racking layout—not theoretical floor squares that cannot be reached.
