How this calculator works
When products are sold by case, comparing six orientations gives a quick estimate of how many uniform units fit in a carton. You only need the internal carton measurements and external dimensions of one product.
What the calculation does
For each orientation, divide the box's usable internal length, width and height by the corresponding product dimensions, round down each axis, and multiply. The highest of the six same-orientation results is shown.
Important limitations
This tool checks uniform orthogonal grid packing only. Mixed orientations, nesting, dividers, cushioning and damage-prevention requirements can change the actual result.
Common questions
Should I enter inside or outside carton measurements?
Use internal carton dimensions. Outside measurements include corrugated board thickness and overstate usable packing space.
Does the tool combine different orientations?
No. It finds the best of six uniform orientations. Mixing orientations within one layer may improve utilization, but is not modeled.
How much clearance should I allow?
Enter the space reserved against each inner wall. Your product, protective wrap and handling requirements determine the appropriate value.
