How this calculator works
Carriers may bill a shipment based on the space it occupies instead of only its mass. The volumetric weight divisor and rounding practice vary by carrier, service and route, so configure both to match the quote.
What the calculation does
Multiply the parcel's external length, width and height in centimeters, divide by your carrier's cm³/kg dimensional divisor, and compare against scale weight. The greater value is rounded up by the specified increment.
Important limitations
Confirm your carrier's divisor, oversize surcharges and rounding method; these are not universal. This calculator is an estimate, not a shipping rate quote.
Common questions
What is a DIM divisor?
A carrier-specific number that converts parcel volume into an equivalent weight. Common examples are 5,000 and 6,000 cm³/kg, but your carrier's contract governs.
Should I use the product size or package size?
Use the sealed parcel's outside measurements, including its packaging.
Is the higher weight always charged?
Many services use the greater of actual and DIM weight, but exceptions and additional surcharges exist. Check the specific service terms.
