How this calculator works
A lower listed unit price may result in a larger cash commitment when a supplier requires a high minimum order. Compare the actual immediate purchase outlay, not just the sticker price.
What the calculation does
For each supplier, order at least its minimum quantity, multiply by quoted unit cost and add freight and fixed charges, then compare total outlays.
Important limitations
Orders can contain different purchased quantities; extra inventory may have resale value. The cheapest immediate order is not always the best lifetime supplier choice.
Common questions
Why can a low-price supplier lose?
Higher minimum quantities, freight, or fixed fees can outweigh a lower item price.
Does the tool account for inventory left over?
It displays quantities purchased but compares the cash paid now, not the future value of surplus inventory.
Should I include taxes and duties?
Enter applicable fixed charges if relevant, or use our import landed cost calculator for a more detailed import estimate.
