How this calculator works
Filling a shipping container is constrained both by internal space and weight. This preliminary estimator uses typical dry-container dimensions and finds a best uniform-axis carton grid, then checks against a representative payload limit.
What the calculation does
Try upright floor rotations or all six orthogonal carton orientations against typical internal dry container dimensions. Select the greatest uniform grid count, compare it to a payload-limited count, and estimate containers required for the requested shipment.
Important limitations
Not a 3D loading plan or a loading authorization. Defaults are approximate: check the exact container plate and door opening, load distribution, overhang, blocking/bracing, stacking strength, customs and route weight restrictions. Mixed rotations and loading paths are not modeled.
Common questions
What does keep upright do?
It permits the carton to rotate on the container floor but keeps the entered height vertical.
Will every calculated carton actually fit through the doors?
Not necessarily. Door opening dimensions, stacking and safe loading sequences are not checked.
Why does weight sometimes limit the count?
A container may reach its payload rating before its interior volume is filled.
