How this calculator works
Bubble wrap is purchased as a continuous roll but used as individual protective sheets. When pieces are cut across the roll width, the cutting orientation can affect how many packages a roll will cover.
What the calculation does
Subtract a chosen allowance from roll length for cutting waste. Try the requested sheet in both right-angle orientations, computing full pieces across the roll and down its usable length. Choose the layout with the highest yield, then calculate rolls needed for the requested packages and layers.
Important limitations
This is rectangular sheet cutting, not a calculation of protective cushioning performance. Real roll widths, perforation positions and irregular products may reduce yield; verify actual sheet requirements.
Common questions
Can sheets be rotated?
Yes. The estimator compares two simple unrotated/90° rectangular cut layouts. It does not mix layouts or optimize nesting.
What does layers per package mean?
The number of separately cut sheets used to wrap or protect one item.
Does the result account for overlap when wrapping?
Enter a sheet size that already includes any overlapping material you need.
