How to use this tool

Give each box a unique number and destination room, then list its contents. The searchable inventory shows what is in each box. Change its stage as you load, receive and unpack boxes; print matching box labels and room signs before moving day.

Quick steps

  1. Name your move and create a numbered box with its destination room and searchable contents.
  2. Mark any fragile, heavy or open-first boxes, then update each box's status from packed through unpacked.
  3. Search for items, print numbered labels and an arrival checklist, and download a backup before switching devices.

Practical tip

Print box number and destination room prominently. Keep detailed contents off external labels for privacy. Export a JSON backup before clearing browser data or changing devices.

Common questions

Is this box inventory free and private?

Yes. No signup or paid service is required. Entries save in your browser's local storage, not an online account. Download JSON regularly; deleting browser data can erase your list.

Can I print moving labels and a moving-day checklist?

Yes. Print matching numbered box labels, a full contents inventory with loaded/arrived columns, and destination-room signs. Use your browser's Print or Save as PDF option.

Can I track boxes that haven't arrived yet?

Yes. Each box has Packed, Loaded, Arrived and Unpacked stages. The dashboard counts arrivals and you can filter the list to find unconfirmed boxes.

Can I restore or use my list on another device?

Download the JSON backup and restore it on another device. This is a manual transfer, not automatic synchronization. CSV export is available for spreadsheets.

How many boxes can I manage?

Up to 250 numbered boxes in one browser inventory. Every box number must be unique; moving, deleting and editing boxes do not silently renumber existing labels.

Moving box inventory and printable labels — everything in one place

Write the room and a unique number on every box, then track the contents in a private, searchable list. When you need the kettle, baby's blanket or phone charger, search the inventory instead of opening ten boxes. PackFormula creates matching printable labels, a room-by-room arrival checklist and printable room signs from the same information.

A practical box-labeling example

You pack coffee mugs, the kettle and dish towels into Box 12 destined for the Kitchen. Enter 12 as the number, Kitchen as the room and the items as contents. Mark it Open first. The inventory now shows Box 12 when you search for “kettle”. You can print a large label for the box and a checklist for the removal team; after unloading, change its stage to Arrived, and later Unpacked.

What's the safest information to print on a box?

Usually the destination room, a large box number and handling instructions are enough. The full contents list is private by default, because a box marked with expensive electronics or personal documents can attract unwanted attention. Turn on “Put contents on printed box labels” only when you need it.

How to check whether all boxes arrived

Before the truck departs, compare the printed inventory with the physical box numbers. Update each entry from Packed to Loaded, then Arrived, and finally Unpacked. The dashboard counts a box as arrived once it reaches Arrived or Unpacked. Filter for Packed or Loaded to quickly identify boxes not yet confirmed at the destination.

Printing and portability

Print matching box labels, destination-room door signs or a full checklist with stage columns. Choose Print or Save as PDF in your browser. Download CSV for spreadsheets or JSON for a complete editable backup. The tool saves locally on the device where you used it; it does not synchronize between phones or computers. Restoring a JSON backup replaces the local inventory, so export your current work first.

Useful packing tips

Pack items used least often first. Put essential bedding, chargers, basic toiletries and a change of clothes into a clearly marked “Open first” box or bag. Use small boxes for heavy items like books, and mark fragile items visibly. Never rely on a box label as a substitute for professional insurance documentation or a mover's official inventory.
