How to use this tool

Record a product and its actual purchase or coverage start date. Enter the return days and warranty months from your retailer and manufacturer, or exact deadlines where provided. Save an optional receipt photo, review upcoming dates and export calendar reminders and backups.

Quick steps

  1. Add a purchase and use the actual retailer or manufacturer's date and policy terms.
  2. Attach a receipt photo if useful, save the record and review both independent deadlines.
  3. Download a calendar reminder file, a printable report, CSV spreadsheet or a full portable JSON backup.

Practical tip

Do not assume a universal 30-day return policy or that coverage always begins on purchase day. Confirm written terms, coverage exclusions and the exact return deadline. Save JSON backups since records are stored only on this device.

Common questions

How can I track warranties without an account?

Add purchases in your browser. The tool stores data locally in IndexedDB, offers searchable records, and does not require a signup. Download a JSON backup regularly.

Can it calculate an appliance or laptop warranty expiration?

Yes. Enter the actual coverage start date and a duration in calendar months, or override it with an exact expiry date from the warranty. Calendar-month calculations account for shorter months and leap years.

Does it automatically know a store's return policy?

No. Different stores, countries, product categories and sales periods have different rules. Enter the retailer's stated return window or exact return deadline from your receipt or policy.

Will it notify me automatically before a warranty ends?

The webpage does not send push notifications when closed. Download the ICS file and import it into a calendar app. It includes display alarms for upcoming return and warranty events; verify the imported reminders.

Can I store and print receipts for a warranty claim?

Yes. Attach a single JPG, PNG or WebP receipt image per purchase. It is resized and saved locally, and included in printable reports and the JSON backup.

How can I move my purchases to another phone or computer?

Export a full JSON backup, then import it on the other device. Restoring replaces that device's existing warranty records after your confirmation. There is no automatic cross-device synchronization.

Can I download an Excel-compatible spreadsheet or PDF?

Download CSV for spreadsheet programs. For a PDF, choose Print / PDF and Save as PDF using your browser. CSV does not include receipt images; JSON backups do.

Free product warranty tracker and return deadline organizer

One purchase can have two important dates. A store may allow returns for only a few days or weeks, while the product manufacturer might promise repairs or replacement for months or years. The PackFormulas Warranty & Return Deadline Tracker keeps these dates in the same private workspace. No signup, spreadsheet setup or recurring service fee is required. It is helpful when documenting appliances, electronics, furniture, tools and other household purchases.

How to calculate a return deadline without assuming the store's policy

Enter the date from which your store's policy actually runs and the return period printed on your receipt or order information. For example, if a purchase on October 1 has a 30-day window counted by adding 30 calendar days, the estimated deadline is October 31. This is only a planning convention: some sellers count the purchase day as day one, exclude categories, or begin counting from delivery. When the seller gives an explicit date, enter it in the exact deadline field. The exact date takes precedence over calculated days.

Warranty expiry dates: months versus calendar days

Product warranties are frequently expressed in months or years rather than a fixed number of days. This planner uses calendar-month arithmetic and clamps to the last valid day of shorter months. For example, 12 months after February 29, 2024 becomes February 28, 2025. Enter an exact expiry date if the written warranty specifies one, or set the purchase/coverage start date to the actual start date under your terms.

What to keep for a repair or warranty claim

Save the product's full name, manufacturer, model, serial number where appropriate, seller, purchase date, proof of purchase and the relevant warranty text. Attach a clear receipt photo if useful. A receipt or invoice can help prove when you bought an item, while a copy of the warranty helps establish the coverage terms. If the product is defective, document the symptom and communications with the business. The US Federal Trade Commission's warranty guidance recommends keeping both warranties and purchase receipts. Rules and remedies vary by country; this planner does not determine your legal entitlements.

Why calendar export and a full JSON backup matter

The downloadable calendar file includes upcoming return and warranty events for active purchases, each with a display alarm a few days ahead. Import it into your preferred calendar and verify alarms there. Because this website cannot send background notifications, creating a calendar event is the reliable way to receive alerts. A CSV spreadsheet preserves the core text and date fields; it deliberately excludes receipt images. A full JSON backup includes saved resized receipt photos and can restore your records on another device, provided that device has adequate browser storage.

Privacy and reliability

Product records are stored in your current browser's IndexedDB database; they are not synchronized with a server. Resized receipt photographs are processed locally in your browser. Private/incognito sessions or browser clearing may remove the database, so download a JSON backup periodically and store it safely. Do not save banking identifiers or account secrets in product notes. This website may load third-party advertising, but the tool's purchase and receipt fields are not deliberately transmitted to advertising services.

Practical workflow: a new household appliance

  1. Record the product name, retailer, actual coverage start date, and price.
  2. Use the seller's documented return policy, not an assumed universal window.
  3. Add the written warranty's duration or exact expiry date and save its supporting details.
  4. Attach a clear receipt photograph, then save the record and verify both dates.
  5. Download the calendar export and a JSON backup. Print a concise claim record whenever you need to contact support.
